RBT Exam Day: Checklist and What to Expect
Bring one thing that matters: a valid government photo ID whose name exactly matches your BACB application. Arrive 30 minutes early, expect your phone and belongings to go into a locker, and plan for the check-in photograph and signature. Everything else about exam day is designed to be uneventful.
The checklist
- Government-issued photo ID, unexpired, signature present, name matching your application
- Your appointment confirmation (on paper or accessible before you lock your phone away)
- Arrival 30 minutes before the appointment; late arrival can forfeit the seat and fee
- Layered clothing, since testing rooms run cold and jackets may need to be lockered
- Eat beforehand: 90 minutes plus check-in with no snacks is longer than it sounds
- Know the drive, parking and building entrance the day before, not the day of
What check-in and the room are like
You sign in, present ID, get photographed, empty your pockets and store belongings in a locker. Some centers do a palm vein scan. Inside, you get a workstation with dividers, provided scratch materials where allowed, and proctors observing by camera and window. The interface is plain: question, four options, next, previous and a flag button, the same rhythm as our 85 question mock, which is exactly why practicing with a timer and flags matters.
The night before
Do not study new material. Run the quick review flashcards once, confirm your ID and appointment time, decide what you are wearing and eating, and sleep. Candidates rarely fail from one fewer hour of study; they do fail from arriving frazzled, late or exhausted. If nerves are the bigger enemy, read common exam mistakes to know the traps in advance.
